Welcome to my little corner of the Dutton Elementary website! I'm really glad you stopped by for a visit.

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Mrs. Rebecca Wenger but you can call me Becky. I have the privilege of teaching one section of Dutton Elementary's First Grade students. My good friend, Mrs. Amy Storrer, has the privilege of teaching the other First Grade section. Now if it is okay with you, I'd like to talk a little bit about what you can expect when your child attends my classroom.

Your child will experience tremendous growth throughout First Grade. During First Grade, your child will learn (1) to work cooperatively with other students, (2) to problem solve through academic and social situations, (2) to take responsibility for his/her own learning through various activities and homework assignments, and most importantly.......(3) will have a lot of fun along the way! Please don't tell Mr. Veitch about this last part. He thinks that all we do is work, work, work! :)

Regarding academics, our district endorses the following curriculum/resources:

Math = i-Ready and Xtramath.org (website for Math practice/enrichment)

Language Arts =  CKLA, Core Knowledge Language Arts.

Social Studies = Variety of resources

Science = Next Generation Science Standards & Science kits

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) using Harmony Curriculum.
